NEVER SAY NEVER
Just the other day posted a blog about going into town by bus and I said never again, guess you can not say that because just this past Sunday I went into Boston by bus again.

This time it was a school bus! Made plans months ago with some friends to go to a Boston Pops concert. This bus not only gave you a bumpy ride, but it had very little leg room, and I am not tall.

There was no place to hold on to when the bus made a turn. I could have landed in the lap of the person across the aisle from me. He was not very appealing anyway.

Now about the concert. Bruce Hangen conducted, he became Principal Pops Guest Conductor in 2002 and what a fine job he did. He has lead over 200 concerts with Boston Pops and Boston Pops Esplanade orchestras.

The program featured wonderful Broadway show tunes and a special presentation by students from The Boston Conservatory Musical Theater Division. These young people did a great job singing and dancing those beautiful numbers.

And then to top it all of, the flag comes down and the audience stands up and claps and cheers, what a wonderful afternon.

By the time the concert was over, I had forgotten about the bus ride, but I had to get back on.

This time I had a seat over the wheel!

Oh well it was a great time anyway!

NEVER AGAIN
Went into Boston by bus yesterday. I can get the bus right near my home. The bus pulled up and I carefully got myself up the stairs. They are high stairs and I needed all the help that the bus railing could provide to get me inside.

Took about 45 minutes to get into Haymarket. But the ride was very bumpy. Not good.

I've been wanting to get together with a good friends of mine for a long time. I see her in Florida but she lives on the South Shore and I live on the North Shore, so we made plans to meet at Quincy Market. That was a good meeting place for both of us.

The sidewalks of Quincy Market were probably built by Pilgrims. Pilgrims with bad eyesight. I'm not the most steady walker, so trying to navigate those cobblestones was quite a challenge.

The marketplace was full of vendors selling everything from soup to nuts. If you started at one end and tried to eat your way down to the other end, it'd probably take you three weeks!

We stopped and looked at all the delicious looking pastries and candies. Would you believe the piece of candy that I had my eye on was $2.75?

Did not buy it.

She saw a brownie that looked great that was also $2.75. We split the brownie and had a cup of coffee. Less calories and less money.

We will do it again, but I will have to find a better way to get into town.

Now for some advice:

- If you do take the bus do not try to take notes while riding, you will never be able to read them.

- If you wear false teeth, watch out, you might loose them.

- If you are pregnant you could have the baby sooner then you expect!

As for me, the next time I go into town, I'll find a better way.

CHECK YOUR TELEPHONE BILL
Received my telephone bill the other day and it just did not look right. What was wrong with it?. First off, I saw a charge for .85 cents for 911/Disabilitiy Access Fee, WHAT? Also saw charge for MA Regional call to Fall River. Do not know anyone in Fall River.

Called the Verizon office and was told that the Disability charge went into effect this winter. I was away this winter so that was the first I heard of that.

Operator checked the calls made to Fall River. They were made by Pete, who the heck is Pete? They will deduct that charge from my bill.

Now getting back to the 911/Disability Fee, In all my years have had to call 911 twice. There should not be any charge for that necessary call. Next thing you know, they will be charging you to call the Police and Fire department!

As Red Buttons used to say, 'STRANGE THINGS ARE HAPPENING'

Check your telephone bill!

LAUGHTER AT THE BOX OFFICE
Yesterday my senior friends and I went to dinner and the movies. It was Saturday night and we like to do it up big, after all it is Saturday night, but the problem was there really wasn't anything special at the movies. What do do?

'LET'S GO SEE A TEEN MOVIE, MEAN GIRLS! It did get a good review.

While waiting in line I thought how I was going to ask for the ticket. When I approached the cashier said "One Senior Mean Girl".

Well she got my humor and that really broke her up.

The movie turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable and gave us a few laughs, but the best and biggest laugh was when I asked for One Senior Mean Girl.

IF POTS COULD TALK
Did something very unusual yesterday, cooked. My husband is gone now 10 years and since I am alone do not do much cooking. Well yesterday took out my wonderful old 5 quart aluminum pot and made chicken soup. That pot has produced many great meals in it's day and yesterday it came though with a great chicken soup.

Now I will tell you three secrets of how to make the best soup you ever had.

First, lots of sliced celery and carrots.I also add a few slices of green pepper, that gives the soup sweetness.

Second, 1 teaspoon of Croydens Soup Mix.

Third, this I have never seen in any cook book, and I have read plenty, eave the cover ajar so that the liquid gets more condensed.

Bless that old pot. Enjoy!

MY CAR AND I BACK FROM FLORIDA IN ONE PIECE
When I go to Florida I have my car shipped down and when the fellow comes to take the car I hold my breath. He has to chain it up and sometimes it takes a long time until he gets it just right. I worry that it will make it in one piece. And it does.

Then when I am down there I watch very carefully the seniors that are driving or just walking by. That was just fine. I have a parking spot down there were I have to be very careful when I pull out of my spot. That was just fine.

Now it comes time to ship the car back home. Fellow comes to pick up the car and I worry all over again. I can not stand to see how he does it so I leave while he is in the process of tighing the reins. Car arrived in one piece! That was just fine.

Now I am home safe and sound. But, I go to the local hospital to pick up some stuff that I have to drink for a test. In and out in 15 minutes. When I get back to my car I see my side view mirror broken! Found a note from a ICU nurse who works at the hospital apologizing for hitting me with her truck.

Made it back home in one piece, but watch out for those ICU nurses!
