A LITTLE OF THIS AND THAT
Imagine this: I don't have much to write about today so I will just write a little about a few things.

A DISCOVERY
First off, I made a discovery in Florida. My friends told me about a particular shoe store that specializes in shoes for people with "distressed feet." Here in the north the stores carry beautiful high stlye shoes with high heels. How they wear them, I'll never know!!

In Florida the ladies are more realistic and wear shoes that they can walk in. Forget the beauty. I gave up high heels years ago and have been wearing Aerosoles and sneakers for years. This winter I found that when I walked for any length of time my feet hurt. When I mentioned my problem to my friends they told me about this great store that caters to people that have problems finding the right shoe.

Well the first thing the shoe salesman did was MEASURE my foot! I have been wearing an 8M for years and now I measure an 8 1/2 W. Apparently NOTHING stays the same, as we age the hair gets thinner, we gain weight, get wrinkles, we need stronger lenses for the eyes and the FEET GET BIGGER.

I know a lot about the changes that take place as we age but did not realize that the feet get into the act too.!

BOOKCLUB
When I first got down to Florida I started to go to the local library, found some good books, checked them out and before I knew it, my time was up, returned them, took out other books and found the same thing happened again. After a while I realized I was never going to get to read any of them so I gave up .

Now that I am back home, the pace is a lot slower so I will have time to do some reading. I attend a book club conducted by the local librarian who comes to my development once a month. No sooner did I arrive home when I found out that "the girls" are reading "One Thousand White Women" by Jim Fergus I got a copy and can't put it down. It's a most unusual story about a white woman who goes out west in 1876 and marries the chief of the Cheyenne nation.

What a great movie it would make. If any of you read it, let me know who you would cast in the major roles.

It's time to prepare my evening meal but I'm going to read another chapter or two.

HOME SWEET HOME
I just received a call from my transport company, they will be delivering my car tomorrow morning between 8:00 am and 12 noon. Once the car comes I get very busy unloading all my stuff and putting things away. Before I get involved with that BIG JOB I thought this would be a good time to bring my blogging buddies up to date.

My flight home was uneventful, plane took off on time and arrived on time. Incidentally, they now only serve hot or cold drinks, no more pretzels or peanuts. Guess they figure they can save a bundle that way.

The only excitiment I had on the plane was when the young man sitting next to me opened up the overhead compartment and a cane rolled out and hit me on the head!! I could have done without that experience.

Now that I am home have been trying to find out where the light switches are, where my good knife is and where the pots and pans are, After all, I have been away four months and it takes time to adjust. The older I get the more time it takes to adjust! Or maybe that hit on the head did me in.

When I talk to my friends who have been going back and forth to Florida over the years, we all say the same thing, "it's getting harder and harder, sooner or later we will decide to either move there permanently or stay up North. I know what I will do, I'll stay up North.

It's starting to get real hot in Florida now and stays that way until October. I'm a lucky snowbird, I leave when the kitchen gets hot and can enjoy summer, spring and fall here in Massachusetts.

It's good to be home!

PACKING AGAIN
Before I turn around it is time to pack up for my return trip to Boston, that is if Delta does not go on strike. When I expressed my concern to Steve he said, "Ma, worry is a worthless emotion." That's all well and good BUT I have already arranged for my car to be shipped, have a stop date for the phone, newspaper and a myriad of other details.

PACKING
Well, as Scarlett O'Hara said, "I will think about it tomorrow." In the meantime I am packing away. I go through this every year, always say, "I will take less this year but I never do. As it happens this winter was the coolest that I have experienced in years so that most of the time I needed either a long sleeved shirt, sweater or jacket. Very rarely wore a short sleeve top or bathing suit.

WARM/COLD
Even when it is warm here, you go into a supermarket, restaurant or the movies you need to wear something with a long sleeve. What never seizes to amuse me is when I see a man wearing a jacket and a pair of shorts at the movies. Go figure!

LAST LICKS
Tomorrow will be my last day playing Mah Jongg, Tuesday getting my last hair cut here and will be returning the modem to Adelphia. Wednesday night getting together with friends for a Passover Seder in a restaurant. They will have a Cantor conducting the service, and the restaurant will have the seder plate, tradional Passover meal with all the trimmings.

The second night of Passover I will be spending at the home of my wonderful cousins and their children.

One year my husband and I attended a Passover Seder at a country club where we had a brief service, a fine meal and DANCING! Only in Florida!!

And so that's the way the week will go and before I know it I will be back home. In the meantime I want to wish all my friends a very Happy Passover, Happy Easter and a Joyous Spring.

A BIRTHDAY TOAST TO RONNI
Happy Birthday Ronni from Millie and Steve
Before I found you in the blogosphere I had a morning routine - first I would take in the newspaper, have breakfast, read the paper and then go on the internet.

Since I found "Time Goes By," my routine has changed, first thing I do is pay you a visit, then take in the paper and have breakfast. I have to go see what "Ronni" is up to today.

One particular statement you made in one of your posts stands out in my mind, "No One Is Ordinary." We can all learn from that.

I have learned from you, laughed with you and celebrated life with you!

Wishing you a very happy 65th birthday and a year filled with much happiness.

What a way to start a new year, new town, new friends and new discoveries to make!!

And wait until THEY MEET YOU!!

DRINKING AND SLEEPING
The other day Claude from "Blogging In Paris" made a post entitled "Getting sleepy after eating."

That reminded me of the time my husband and I were visiting Paris and mapped out what we were going to do on a particular day. How do you not plan to go to the Louvre museum! We found out that an English language tour was going to take place that afternoon, so we decided to have lunch nearby and then go to the museum.

We found a lovely neighborhood restaurant, the atmosphere was delighful, the food delicious and the wine was a treat as I never drink in the day time.

The museum was a bit of a walk from the restaurant but on such a beautiful sunny day it was the ideal thing to do, BUT I felt sleepy. Oh my goodness, I could not hold my head up and said to my husband, "we have to go back to the hotel, I have to lay down." What a shame, that was our last opportunity to visit the Louvre.

As we made our way back to the hotel we passed a GIFT SHOP, how can you pass up a gift shop on one of your last days in Paris? By the time we left the shop I was feeling much better and so we went to the Louvre after all!

Now I find I can't even drink at night!!
