NOW AND THEN
How times have changed! When I was a girl I lived at home until I got married. In those days if a girl took her own apartment she was considered a loose woman.

There was no such thing as living with a guy before you got married. Absolulty unthinkable. And if you got pregnant it was the talk of the town. Remember when Ingrid Bergman was having a baby out of wedlock, she had to leave the country!
Now movie stars live together have a family and then "maybe" think about getting married.

How many remember when in the movies you could not show a man and woman in bed together. They had to be in twin beds. In the movie "It Happened One Night" Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert had to spend the night together and he put up a sheet to separate the beds.

How many remember the movie "Ecstasy" staring Hedy Lamarr running through the woods naked, not that you saw anything, but the illusion was there!

What got me thinking about all this was an article that appeared in the Sun Sentinel the other day. The title of the article was "Rewriting the Rules of Love." The gist of the article was about seniors who for practical reasons decide to live together. "Sometimes it's just too complicated financially and it's easier to stay single." "Now it's seniors in their 60's, 70's, 80's even 90's, who are creating a new tradition."

Years ago I remember being introduced to a couple and assumed they were married, I learned pretty quick, you can not assume anything!

It appears that living together without marriage is something that senior citizens have learned from the younger generation. We taught them a thing or two and now we are learning from them.
