THE BEST GIFT
Before I get to the main point of this post I want to let you know what has been going on for quite some time, maybe even as much as a year.

Since I started blogging I make it a point to make copies of my posts. I don't have a printer in Florida so when I come back to Massachusetts I have a lot of catching up to do.

One day when Steve was visiting me he observed that my printer was very slow and said, "Ma, why don't I make the copies for you." I gave him the dates and that was that. Time went by and no copies. I questioned him about it and he asked me for the dates again and said he would get to it. I didn't think twice about it, he's a busy guy and I figured he would get to it eventually.

Time went by and still no copies! I had other things on my mind so I didn't dwell on it. Whenever I ask him to do something for me he always responds quickly. This time it was different!!

Now to bring you up to date: Last week I got together with Steve and Carol for a family party. Since Steve was going to be out of town on my birthday he and Carol gave me my presents that day. It's always fun receiving gifts from them, they are always thoughtful and things that I wouldn't buy myself.

Well, this time there were some goodies in the gift bag plus something that felt hard and was fairly heavy. It was a book!!

My Mom's Blog - The Book - Front Cover

My Mom's Blog - The Book - Back Cover

The name of the book is, "MY MOM'S BLOG!!!!!" Four hundred and two pages of posts that I have made over the years!!

That's why he was stalling all this time! He was working on having the book self-published. I have received many wonderful gifts from family and friends over the years but none have ever meant as much to me as this one.

I'm sure he put a great deal of time, thought and love into it. Thanks Steve for giving me the best gift I could ever receive.

Here a video Steve took of the moment I opened the gift:

You can see the book online at the blurb bookstore:

I was walking around a beautiful Scottish garden with Claude earlier this month and she was determined to get some good sunflower photos so that she could have a good one to post in honor of your birthday.

That boy of yours is certainly very thoughtful. What a touching gift!

I love reading all the comments.

Here's a short video I made to explain the blog book creation process.

Darling Millie,
Happy, Happy Birthday and my continuing thanks and appreciation for your encouragement and inspiration! Like you, I feel so blessed to have a son (like you, only one) who makes my happiness a priority. Lucky, lucky Millie and Lucy! I loved the pix and post. You're a treasure.

Happy Birthday dearest Millie! Steve dropped hints on Twitter a few months ago. Glad people kept it a surprise :-)

Toasting the next edition and sending birthday hugs.

Millie -- I'm glad you enjoyed your video! I tried to find just the right one -- and it was the Beatles' "Birtday" and Garfield that clinched it for me. I guess was right that you would like it.

Happy Birthday, Millie! And many more!

Millie the TV star, Millie the author, whatever next ? Millie in space...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILLIE!

I follow your son's adventures...but now that I've discovered you, I'll be following YOURS from now on. Pleased to meet you, young lady. :-)

We are both Leos -- my birthday was the 16th -- so we should have fun grrrowling together.

Your book looks so beautiful, what a great gift...and such a great, thoughtful, loving son. You must be so proud of him...as he is of you.

Thanks for sharing those wonderful moments with us. It was priceless to see your reaction when you opened your gift.

Extra Special Big Birthday Hugs,
Mudd a.k.a. Oza (in Montréal)

Happy Birthday Millie! I think that has to be one of the nicest gifts ever.

I just found this blog and couldn't help but think I hope I'm still blogging into my 80s!

You have such a thoughtful family - what a terrific, one-of-kind gift.

You have some very smart and loving children!! Happy Belated Birthday to a sweetheart.

Happy Birthday, Millie! I hope your day is wonderful and you continue to post. Best wishes!

Millie, it seems like yesterday that I wished you Happy Birthday and I am so happy to be wishing you another Happy, Happy Day...

I stopped by yesterday but my computer stuck so I couldn't leave a comment. That makes this Birthday greeting even more belated. It brought a tear to my eyes watching you open your present. What a wonderfully thoughtful gift. Long may you continue to produce your interesting posts for us to read and maybe there'll be a volume two!

Oh my gosh, your reaction brought tears to my eyes. What a fabulous gift!

Your family is so lucky. My mother will be 90 this year, active and in reasonably good health, but no one has ever been able to get her to touch a computer. Or spend much time with a pen and paper. And although she will probably out-live me, I cannot help but think of all the memories that will be lost some day.

You rock.

Bonjour Lady M!

I simply HAD to return and tell you how surprised and honoured and happy I was to have you visit my site and leave a comment. You totally made my day, dear Millie.

You are a special soul...truly one of a kind.

More hugs and lots of LOVE,
Mudd a.k.a. Your Fan Oza
xoxo

sorry i am a bit late, but happy belated birthday, millie. your son is a sweetheart! what a lovely gift, so full of meaning for you and your family forever. i loved the video! i stop by from time to time but usually don't comment. just wantd to tell you that i am glad you had such a wonderful birthday!

As you know now I have had such fun the past 2 days reading your blog from day one up to this one - and throughout it I thought that it is perfect that someone as special as you also has a special son like Steve. The videos of you were funny and I sat here agreeing with the things that are a stinker to open - then I get to this post and see the fabulous book Steve had made for you for your birthday - and all I can say is WOW - he topped it all :D

Thanks for the comment on my blog - I'll be checking in to see what you are up to around town and Fla.

Hope this is one of the best Bdays ever!

What a wonderful birthday gift. (And Happy Birthday)

Steve is the greatest son ever.

Awww. That is just marvelous. Happy Birthday and many thanks to Beth Westmark for introducing me to your blog. I must have been living underneath a rock.

I'm late, and catching up with a lot of stuff. Can't be bad to have birthday wishes almost a week too late. I didn't have a connection, which is why I didn't get in touch. I so would like us to get together again! Planning a trip to Paris? It would be such fun!
Anyway, I enjoy seeing your videos and was tickled to see our photo together on that wonderful birthday present Steve got you. Such a wonderful son you have.
Lots of love
Claude

What a wonderful gift and a great son to honor you like that, I am at work, but have tears in my eyes at the love I see in this video.
God bless you and your family

First of all......a HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, to you Millie! May your year ahead be filled with much joy and laughter.
And you were right...I certainly did enjoy this entry about your blog book. What a clever idea! It looks beautiful and I must say that son of yours sure has a knack for finding the perfect gift! Enjoy all of it, Millie, because you deserve it.

My goodness, you have an incredible son. It was so special watching you open that gift.

Best wishes (belatedly) for a happy birthday!

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday - I can see it was a great one! You made me cry...

happy belated birthday ma'am!

a truly superior gift from a loving and thoughtful son.

isn't it wonderfully ironic that the precious gift is an actual hold-it-in-your-hands-and-turn-the-pages BOOK of an internet BLOG?

to me, though the internet is 'here to stay', the joys of literally holding a volume of words in one's hands beats the ephemeral-feeling of the visual media.

judging by your reaction, i guess you feel at least partly the same way!

What a beautiful present!
I’m wishing you another year
Of laughter, joy and fun,
Surprises, love and happiness,
And when your birthday’s done,

I hope you feel deep in your heart,
As your birthdays come and go,
How very much you mean to me,
More than you can know.

Cheers,
Barb

Ah, Millie. It must be so gratifying to know that your son loves you that much and considers you worth all that time and effort. You must've been a wonderful, wonderful mother to him, for him to do such a thing! You can certainly say, hell - you can certainly brag(!) that you raised your boy right!

What a great gift. I just found your blog today and am inspired by you to move on fearlessly to the next 50 years of my life. Happy Birthday and many, many more!

If you give what can be taken, you are not really giving. Take what you are given, not what you want to be given. Give what cannot be taken.

Well, I can say that you're gift was really cool. I love it. Wish I can also make like that to my mom. Anyway, thanks for sharing this. Keep posting!
