SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE
My den has two very large windows and today before I started making a new post I took a moment to look out of one of those windows. The trees have started to lose their leaves, some still have vivid colors. It won't be long before they will be bare.

This started me thinking about all the changes that go on around us. The world changes, the weather changes and we change.

One of the things that never changes is a good recipe!!

Back in 2005 I put up a recipe for Apple Crisp, it's easy to make and always makes a big hit. Apples are plentiful this time of year and with the holidays coming up I thought I would put it up just the way I posted it back then.

Enjoy ;-)

NICE AND EASY APPLE CRISP
With Thansksgiving around the corner I started to think of the nice and easy recipe that I used to make for the holidays. I don't do much cooking or baking these days but for those of you who still entertain, here is a delicious way to top off a holiday dinner.

APPLE CRISP

6 - 8 apples (Macs, Cortland or Golden Delicious)
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 stick butter (or margarine)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 c sugar
1 c flour
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c chopped nuts
1/3 c raisins (I prefer golden raisins)

In a 9x13 inch pan (buttered), fill with peeled, cored and sliced apples until 3/4 full. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons sugar over apples. Melt the stick of butter (or margarine) and add to the mixed remaining ingredients. Spoon over apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Good served warm with ice cream. Tastes good cold too!

Hint: The mixture will be sticky. To make it easier to spread the dough, wet your hands and spread evenly. Don't worry if it doesn't look good, It will be fine once it comes out of the oven.

Enjoy!

Oh my...what a wonderful day to discover your blog...when you have such a scrumptous sounding recipe to share! All I can say is "yum" and "pleased to meet you."

Millie, thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been looking for an apple crisp recipe since I lost mine many years ago. I can hardly wait to go to the store and buy those apples.

I love good recipes. I especially love good recipes that are easy! I've reached a point where cooking isb't high on my priority list but I'm looking forward to trying this! Thank you!!!!!!!!

I'll try it too, Millie. Mr. kenju loves apple pie, and it is often too labor intensive for me. This looks easier. Thanks!

Thank you so much for a nice and easy apple crisp recipe.
It is appreciated.

Bear((( )))

Over here the same recipe is called apple crumble and it is a firm family favourite. This time of year when the apples are at their best this is the perfect thing to make. I make it so often I don't actually need a recipe anymore. The UK version I have doesn't have cinnamon in it. I don't know why, but it doesn't. As an American person, I always put it in. A recipe that uses cooked apples needs cinnamon. It's almost like a law!

Yummy! I wish I were not as lazy as I am! This looks absolutely delicious! Apple crumble it is, Peggy.
A good idea for an October day!

Aaaah, so apple crisp is apple crumble. I've often wondered about apple crisp. Good to know. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Oh Millie, you are making my mouth water and I'm on a weight loss plan, so I can't have this dessert...yet ;-)

That recipe looks yummy! I wouldn't have said it was exactly the same as apple crumble though. I make crumble topping by rubbing butter into flour and sugar and sprinkling on top of the sweetened apples with cinnamon. Sometimes I put porridge oats in the flour mixture for added texture.

That does look like a nice and easy recipe - thanks for sharing it!

thanks for sharing. im gonna cook one for my dear one.
