THIS and THAT - MARCH
WEATHER

I've been down here since December and it's finally "pool weather." Today's temp was in the low 80's and, what can I say, it was gorgeous. Perfect day for a dip in the pool, as a matter of fact I went in twice!

Not only do I enjoy the water but that's where you find out about the good places to eat, movie recommendations and if you are looking for a "good doctor" or a "handy man" - the "maven" will tell you.

HEALTH

Last month I wrote about "The Raisin and Gin" remedy for arthritis. Well, I finally bought the raisins and a small bottle of gin. I have them soaking in a bowl right now, it should take a few days before the gin evaporates and them I will start eating nine raisins a day.

In the meantime I have a bottle of gin sitting there doing nothing SO last night I had a gin and tonic with a twist of lemon! I'll have to buy some lime next time I'm in the market.

BOOKS

I'm on Anita Shreve kick - just finished reading "Light on the Snow." Good but not great.

Comments:
Awesome. It was in the 50s and sunny here in Ohio today and I was ready to dance in the street. Perspective is everything!!!

Sounds like the pool is the source for resources.

Let me know if the raisins and gin
work.

I've never read Anita Shreve -- is she usually pretty good?

I have liked everything I've read by Anita Shreve, especially Beach Glass (I think that's the name) and one called the Pilot's Wife (I think). I haven't read yours.

I am hoping for warm weather to come back here. We were teased 7-10 days ago with 80-85* and it was terrific!

I'd not heard of the gin and raisins treatment. Set my mind to thinking the raisins are surely small. What would you think about gin and prunes?

Gin and Tonic used to be the favorite drink of our crowd. I think I will have to buy a bottle of gin to soak my raisins. (One excuse is as good as another.) Maybe I should get a bottle of tonic water too, just in case. ;-)

Glad to hear that your Ohio weather is warming up!

I'll be sure to let you know if the raisins and gin help me. One thing I'm sure of, it will help one way or another. I happen to like gin!!

Re Anita Shreve - to get acquainted with her books, start with "The Pilot's Wife." I think it's one of her best.

I enjoyed "Sea Glass" and "The Pilot's Wife" too.

We haven't hit 85 degrees yet. Perfect - low 80's for days.

You gave me a big laugh - If I switched from raisins to prunes it might help me in other ways!!

My crowd enjoyed gin and tonic too. Since I had to buy a bottle of gin for medicinal purposes, I shouldn't let it go to waste! ;-)

I hope the raisins and gin work. If not forget about the raisins. :)

Please keep us updated on how the 'Raisins and Gin' treatment works out! I would love to know if it works, you can bet I'll buy all the gin and raisins the grocery store has! It reminds me of a post I saw on Dream to the Last Day (http://www.dreamtothelastday.com) which is a social network for baby boomers. Someone posted advice on NSAIDS but I prefer natural cures. Cheers!

Pool weather? Wonderful! We had a great sunny (if chilly) week last week, but now we're back to grey, rain and mist. :(
I guess March is really too early for warm weather. Your gin and raisins sounds interesting. Keep us posted on how it's working.

I love all of Anita Shreve books; and I have read just about every one of them including her latest. I think so far my favorite is Fortune's Rocks.
