Observations on Growing Older
I saw this one a while ago.

Wanted to take the easy way out today - nothing special to write about - this is a goodie.
Observations on Growing Older

Millie in a sportscar

Your kids are becoming you...and you don't like them...but your grandchildren are perfect!

Going out is good..
Coming home is better!

When people say you look "Great"... they add "for your age!"

When you needed the discount, you paid full price.
Now you get discounts on everything... movies, hotels, flights, but you're too tired to use them.

You forget names.... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!

The 5 pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.

You realize you're never going to be really good at anything.... especially golf.

Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.

The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.

Your spouse sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than he or she does in bed. It's called their "pre-sleep".

Remember when your mother said, "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"?
Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married...
Now, "I hope they STAY married!"

You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..

When GOOGLE, ipod, email, modem....
were unheard of, and a mouse was something that made you climb on a table

You tend to use more 4 letter words ....
"what?"..."when?".... ???

Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

Your husband/wife has a night out with the guys or gals but is home by 9:00 P.M. Next week it will be 8:30 P.M.

You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.

Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!

What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

Everybody whispers.

Now that your spouse has retired ...
you'd give anything if he/she would find a job!

You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet ...
2 of which you will never wear.

But old is good in some things:
old songs,
old movies,
And best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!
Which one's rings a bell with you?

For me, most of them hit home!

Comments:
Hi Millie, I can relate to all the facts you stated.
The Golden years are not so Golden. It is a time to adjust to all the changes in our life. This is a time when we seem limited in all phases.

We have two choices:
Accept or be depressed. I'll take Acceptance.

Every day is a gift and that is why they call it the Present.

Bette Davis said: Getting old ain't for sissies. She didn't lie!

Millie, The pillow my son made me that sits in my rocker says The Golden Years Suck. As to what in your post--All of it fits me my friend!!!

Millie, every one of them hits home with me!! So funny. I guess the one that resonates with me the most is relying on your spouse to remember what you can't.

Great picture of you in the sports car Millie !

Hi Millie,
You hit a home run with me!!

All good, all true. Still laughing. Especially the losing weight and losing your keys. Dianne

Well, look at you in a shiny red convertible. You are looking great and I am sooooo envious.

I can identify with your list with the exception of 'your spouse'. I haven't had one of them for 28 years.

Darlene

I have to set you straight. Yes, that's me in a red convertible but that car is not mine. I was at a car show about five years ago and thought it would be fun to take a picture of me in it.

I own a 1989 beige Toyota Camry. It's not glamorous but it gets me where I want to go.

Yeah! I like this piece and can identify with many of them.

Don't be shy Millie -- it's okay -- you can fess up and admit you hot rod around in a red convertible in your "other" life.

Millie, just caught up on reading your post.
They are all so good and I can relate to most of them.
Have a great day...
My dentist does not show movies :)
I am going to tell him about this.

Millie,

I like the picture of you in the car too.

My husband pre-sleeps! It doesn't preclude the sleep-sleep.
Great post!
