THE JEWISH NEW YEAR AND A YIDDISH JOKE
It isn't often that I have the opportunity to speak Yiddish but when I do it brings back many wonderful memories. I think of my parents, my grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins who are no longer with me.

I spoke Yiddish even before I spoke English. My grandmother who did not speak English, lived with my parents when I was a youngster, so in order to communicate with her I "spoke her language." I must say given a chance I still speak a good Yiddish.

What brought all this to mind recently is the fact that this week we welcomed the Jewish New Year.

Food is a big part of the celebration! Chopped liver, meat knishes, chicken soup with matzo balls and noodles, potato pudding, carrots, chale, roast brisket and to top it all, honey cake for a sweet new year.

Like I said earlier I relish the opportunity to speak Yiddish so here is a video of the only Yiddish joke I remember and love to tell.

Enjoy!!

MILLIE....
JUST WATCHED YOUR JOKE ABOUT THE GOOD LOOKING MAN....IT WAS VERY FUNNY BUT WHAT I LOVED THE MOST WAS HOW MUCH YOU ENJOYED TELLING IT!! YOU ARE TOOOOOOO FUNNY.
HAVE A HAPPY AND A HEALTHY NEW YEAR.

LISA

Wonderful New Year is wished you.
My oldest daughter's husband is an attorney in Florida and Jewish.
I love when his mom makes me chicken soup. Usually when I have been sick :( Could eat it every week.

Happy New Year! Hope it's a healthy and happy one for you!

I love the way you told your joke. Good job even though you were funnier than the joke.

Hope you have a wonderful week. Hugz!

Hi Millie. It has been quite a while since I have visited you here.I used to be active in the blogging community and was around fairly regularly to read blogs. Now I spend most of my time on FB instead. I love your blog and enjoyed very much catching up with you again. I see you are still as interesting and fun as always and enjoyed your videos so very much! I will check to see if you are on FB - I would love to stay in touch with you there since I am on FB frequently.

Wondering if you have heard anything from/about Lucy, the elder blogger we all enjoyed a few years ago? I lost touch with her after her blog became inactive and tried to email her daughter-in-law in CO to check on Lucy a couple a while back with no success. :(

So glad to see you are continuing to blog and having fun!

You can always leave a comment on my blog if you have any information you can share about Lucy. My comments there are "moderated" so they are not published without my approval.
My best always ~ Sky

Hi Millie, I just saw your video and your gusto in telling the joke made me laugh.
It seemed to be contagious as I was watching you and it made me laugh more. Nice way to end a nice evening.
As far as a career please don't give up your day job!

Hi Sky

Hope you visit me again so you will get an update from me.

First off thanks for the visit and the good words about my blog.

About Lucy - when she stopped posting I missed her posts also. At that time I tried every which way to see what had happened to her.

I wasn't successful either.

You mentioned that you spend your time on FB rather than on a blog. I've had the feeling that more people are doing that.

I'm on FB but don't do much with it. Still am an old-fashioned blogger at heart!!

Hi Millie,

I did check back and just read your comments. Wish we could find Lucy. It was sad that she just disappeared without a word.

I will be around again to see what you are up to! Thanks for your reply.
