LUCKY
How lucky can I get! I went to get gas today and as I was waiting to full up the tank I saw a big sign with a 7 on it . ... Oh boy, that is the month that I have to get a sticker. Today is the 20th of July, only a few days left to comply with the law. It's the first time that I forgot about it. I would usually get it done the very beginning of the month. Well, guess there is a first time for everything.

Fortunately there was no line so I decided to take care of it then and there, the only problem was the station only takes cash and I did not have $29.00 in my wallet BUT I have a lifesaver in the trunk of my car.

Let me explain. My husband Aaron, who has been gone now for 10 years always kept a spare $20.00 bill in the trunk of the car and I have continuted to do the same, it has helped me many times.

Thanks, Aaron

PLAYING MAH JONGG
On Thursday afternoons I get together with "The Girls" to play Mah Jongg at the Club House. That way no one has to clean up the house or set up the bridge table. At our age any work we can eliminate helps make life easier. There are a lot of things we disagree about but that is not one of them!

Ok, we did away with playing in the house, but we still have to get things together before we leave the house.

First and foremost, each of us brings a Mah Jongg purse with $4.00 in change and the Mah Jongg card. I bring the tablecloth and each week someone is responsible for bringing the set. Would you believe that the set gets heavier each year?

It is a long afternoon, so I bring a bottle of water, some kind of nosh, take a sweater because it might be cold in the club house, and I bring an umbrella in case it rains!

Oh yes, I also bring the Boston Globe or some other reading material because we play with five girls and one girl sits out.

We are supposed to play until 4 o'clock, but when that times comes someone always says, "lets play one more hand". Maybe I will win the last hand!

And so we say goodbye and look forward to the next time we schlep our stuff to the clubhouse.

Millie

PS If you would like to know more about Mah Jongg go to my archives dated 11/2/03

ABOUT NOTHING
Last Monday I cut out the Macy's and Filene's coupons and thought of going to the mall and taking advantage of the sales.

I am not a mall shopper, but I thought that it would be a good thing to do on quiet no plans Monday.

Fortunately it started to rain, and that is all I needed to change my mind and stay home.

Now I was home for the day. What to do?

No problem. Toaster oven and microwave needed cleaning. Finished reading an ok novel, paid a few bills and made a few phone calls.

I didn't put put the TV on until 9:00 pm. Time to watch "Everybody Loves Raymond".

If Jerry Seinfeld can have a show about nothing, I can have a blog about nothing too!

What do you do when you do nothing?

SHOES, SHOES, SHOES
Another night on the town with "THE GIRLS." Went to see 'The Notebook'. It is an old fashioned love story about a young couple who find each other, lose each other and find each other again. It is a real tearjerker so bring plenty of kleenex. It takes place in the 40's and the young girl wears clothes appropriate to those days. She wears the platform, high heel shoe with the ankle-strap, remember those?

Speaking of shoes, I looked down at the shoes my friends were wearing, me included. We were all in AEROSOLES.I discovered those wonderful shoes in Florida a number of years ago. They do sell them up North but you really have to hunt them down. They look good, come in many colors and are comforable.

You can walk in these shoes!
